Naima A. Dawson, owner of the all popular All Hype City Entertainment Productions is more than just a phenomenal writer and producer, she's also a poet, stunt actor, mentor and youth educator that has been dedicated to the arts for more than 15 years.
Trained in both contemporary theater and literary poetry Naima ravishes in the best of both worlds. With her Master of Fine Arts from Columbia College in Chicago, Naima has learned how to creatively write effective material for all ages. Noted for her ability to weave in and out of dialogue and keep the people laughing, Naima has captured an entirely new market and generation of theater-goers. Even though she started her theater career in 2000 it wasn't until 2002 that Naima firmly found her fan base in theater. Grounding herself in the theater world, she created a space where she could breathe a different life of story telling to a much larger audience who traditionally would rather catch a movie over a live theatrical production.
Looking to develop plays that would entice non-theater goers, Ms. Dawson began to fuse storylines commonly found in everyday life with stories found in comedy television. Stories that would give such realism that any viewing audience would fill like they were watching their favorite sit-com or episodic series. As seen in her first major production, Living Room Secrets, the only live Soap Opera to unfold on stage one story at a time.
With her successful soap opera well into its 4th episode, Naima set out to produce her first live sketch comedy and improv show in 2006 entitled, YOUR CALL Sketch Comedy & Improv. Again, to her surprise it proved to be a hit amongst the people, an even bigger favorite over her addictive soap opera. Already in its' 5th installment, YOUR CALL is a live comedy show that strives to give the audience a throwback feel of some of Naima's favorite shows such as SNL, The Carol Brunette Show and In Living Color all rolled into one hilarious montage.
To no surprise Naima has expanded her writing to the big screen with her first film, Plate Half Full. So be on the look out as All Hype City moves to the Big Screen!
